https://www.wakeywheeledcats.co.uk:
Wakey Wheeled Cats (WWC) is a women’s flat track roller derby league set up as a not-for-profit organisation at a grass-roots level. We provide athletic opportunities for women through the sport of roller derby, with a view to compete on a national level whilst building individual competitive teams within the league. As well as promoting positive relations throughout the roller derby community we are keen to assist our local community and national charities through fundraising and events. Being Wakefield, West Yorkshire’s original flat track roller derby league is something we are very proud of. We are now UKRDA members and we are focused on promoting roller derby in the UK and representing Wakefield on a national and international level. The league was formed in late April/early May 2009 by Kirsty Quinn (Fu) and Stephanie Sellers (Feline Fatale), and is managed and facilitated by the skaters with a DIY ethic. Wakey Wheeled Cats is a dedicated league with big ambitions for our future and for UK roller derby as a whole.
