Subject and Association DescriptionMary Macpherson (c.1740 - c.1815) was born in Laggan, Badenoch, the daughter of a schoolmaster named Ewen Macpherson. Mary was known as Bean Torra Dhamh (the goodwife of Torra Damh). An early representative of the Evangelical Revival, Mary (married name Clark) was noted as a female spiritual bard during the early nineteenth century.
