About this objectJUMBIES publication produced and edited by Panel to accompany the collaborative JUMBIES performances at The Pyramid during Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, 2020/21.
JUMBIES is described as a series of performances that "combine dance, sound and printed textiles to create a space of layered fictions, alternate realities, apparitions and re-presentations" while the publication "brings together new writing and illustration by Ashanti Harris, Zephyr Liddell and Patricia Panther alongside commissioned texts by Raisa Kabir, Marie O'Connor and Ranjana Thapalyal, which further investigate and reveal the ideas and practices which configure JUMBIES."

Subject and Association DescriptionJUMBIES was conceptualised as a "crafted exploration of Derrida's concept of hauntology (haunting and ontology), to be presented as a multi-artform performance." It references and explores the colonial relationship between the Caribbean and Scotland ("jumbie" is a Caribbean colloquialism for ghost) through the unique but overlapping practices of textiles, sound and dance.
