About this objectDouble-sided printed flyer produced by Standing for Women and distributed at the Let Women Speak rally in Glasgow on 5th February 2023. One side of the flyer features a women behind bars with the words 'Women Tortured in the UK, Right Now ~ Join the Fight' above QR codes captioned 'Keep Prisons Single Sex', 'Women's Rights Network' and 'Sex Matters'. The other side provides a definition of torture and argues that 'Female victims of male violence are incarcerated with men convicted of violent crimes and are only able to escape by putting themselves in solitary confinement. If they complain, or point out this person's sex, they may have their punishment extended. This is TORTURE.'

Keep Prisons Single Sex was established in 2020 to campaign for the sex-based rights of women in prison to single-sex accommodation and same-sex searching. We also campaign for data on offending to be recorded by sex throughout the criminal justice system.

The Bill changes the process to get a gender recognition certificate (GRC). A GRC is a certificate that legally recognises that a person’s gender is not the gender that they were assigned at birth, but is their “acquired gender”.
