Name/TitlePoem: Flower, 2017
About this objectPoem titled 'Flower, 2017' (printed from a webpage on A4 paper) with an image of two young women above and comments overleaf. The donor describes it as "a printed copy of a poem that my best friend, Lizzie, wrote for me last year. I met her after having to move away from my family home and our friendship is the most powerful, unwavering bond between women that I have experienced."
I know my concept of time is poor and my memory is plagued with dark spots
but one year and maybe a few months later
it's like we'd always been.
Small silences are filled little and often with no concern for the break
but one school and a thousand lessons later
it's like we'd always been.
Your past is second to none in the way that I wish I could make it less so
but one smile and ten cold and blue fingers later
it's like we'd always been.
I know emotions are difficult for me to bring to the surface
but one tear and a hundred conversations later
it's like we'd always been.
You are full of love and passion, I see you blossoming and flourishing despite the eyes you cast upon yourself and I'd like you to know, flower,
you have always been.
