About this objectSlim paperback publication with bright orange/red cover titled 'PASSIONS', edited by Natasha Thembiso Ruwona, Khadea Santi and Freya Yeates, with contributions from Jeda Pearl, Zoë Guthrie, Adebusola Ramsay, Courtney Stoddart, Tomiwa Folorunso, Amanda Thomson, Sabrina Henry, TAAHLIAH and Mara Menzies.
The introduction states: "PASSIONS takes inspiration from Maud Sulter's book "Passion: discourses on Blackwomen's creativity" (1990) and reconsiders the themes of "mis-education, mis-information and mis-direction" found within the book. We have been curious to explore in this project how structures and experiences within the art world have changed, or in what ways they have remained the same, and how it can be a space for possible futures to be considered. We are delighted to bring together 9 contributions from Black artists and writers who have a relationship to Scotland. These contributors were given the task of creating in response to the suggested themes; different spaces of labour, art school or sitting outside of the institution, self-organising and community organising, politics of location, and self-preservation."
