The envelope contained two letters of reference on headed paper (stapled together) for Joseph Conway of 63 Muslin Street, Bridgeton (later 255 Onslow Drive, Dennistoun). The most recent letter, dated 14th April 1954, is from Maguires Provision Merchants, Glasgow certifying that Joseph was in charge of their shop at 188 London Road for three years. The earlier reference, dated 22nd February 1951, is from Galbraith's Stores in Paisley, certifying that Joseph was employed as an assistant in one of their grocery branches from 7th June 1948. Joseph was married to Agnes Conway nee Mullan.
