Subject and Association Descriptionhttps://ikm.gda.pl/projekt/metropolitanka:
Metropolitanka is a herstory project ( her story - "her story", as opposed to his story - "his story"), which talks about the role of women in history, often overlooked in academic, school and everyday conversations. Herstory, i.e. stories told from the perspective of women, are intended to more fully depict the history of the Tri-City metropolis, as well as the entire Pomeranian region.
https://stocznia-jest-kobieta.org:
“The shipyard is a woman. Tales of Women from the Gdańsk Shipyard” was an educational herstory project implemented by the Arteria Association in cooperation with the City Culture Institute and people from the social group focused around the “Metropolitanka” project. As part of it, Pomeranian youth collected oral stories of women connected through work, social, political, artistic activities and family connections with the former Gdańsk Shipyard and people working there. The stories have become the basis of a free audioguide , thanks to which you can visit the former Shipyard on your own.
The collected interviews made it possible to tell the story of the participation of women in the birth of the socio-political movement "Solidarity", but also the story of everyday life in the former Gdańsk Shipyard with the voices of the heroines. The purpose of collecting herstories and oral histories is to reach the witnesses of history and save from oblivion the history of people and places unusual on the map and in the history of Poland. The project “Shipyard is a woman. Stories of women from the Gdańsk Shipyard” was carried out with the support of the European Community under the “Youth in Action” programme.
