About this objectLarge textile banner made by women in Govanhill during a GWL outreach project led by Syma Ahmed. The banner, made of different fabrics, features the image of a flowering, leafy tree with hands incorporated into the branches and the words 'ISLAM FORBIDS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN' in large lettering around the trunk. Other words, such as 'Strength', 'Equality', 'Empowerment' and 'Knowledge' in English and Arabic/Urdu appear in smaller letters across the banner.
