About this objectLarge textile banner with a top pocket for inserting a mounting pole, created by 100 Glasgow children at Strathclyde Arts Centre. The project was led by artist Rachel Mimiec as part of Strathclyde Regional Council's 'All Round Strathclyde There's Culture' initiative of 1990. The banner is made up of a turquoise felt background with a border of red triangles (like bunting) stitched on in yellow thread. Within the border are 100 images of boys and girls made from different fabrics and materials, with each child's name stitched in yellow thread below.

Rachel Mimiec is a Glasgow-based artist whose work encompasses self directed initiatives and collaborative community projects. Underlying themes in her studio practice include landscape, nature and survival. Rachel often works with designers, writers and drama practitioners in education contexts, as well as undertaking public artwork research and projects relating to creative spaces and play.
