Name/TitlePlacard: Trans Lives Matter
About this objectLarge double sided placard, stuck together with brown tape down each side, and hand written in pen on cardboard. One side bears the slogan 'TRANS LIVES MATTER', while the other says 'TRANS JOY INSPIRES ME TO STAY ALIVE'.
The placard was gifted to GWL by Cabaret Against the Hate Speech: "We held our Solidarity Salon on April 19th in Glasgow in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling. We had over 800 people with only two days notice, which was phenomenal. After we collected as many of the signs as we could as well as the BSL transcript of most of the speeches and songs. We would love to donate these to your archives as we think it really shows Glasgow's voice in response to the ruling."

"On April 16, 2025, the United Kingdom's Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling interpreting the terms "woman" and "sex" under the Equality Act 2010 to refer strictly to biological sex assigned at birth. In response to this decision, we’ve gathered reflections from leading scholars in our Academic Affiliates network to provide insight into the wider consequences of the Court’s ruling.
