About this objectSmall, slim paperback booklet with dark green covers titled 'Collection of Poems by the late Mrs. William Patterson of Kirkwall, Ont.' The introduction states: "Mrs Patterson, the author of these poems, was born in Cupar, Fifeshire, Scotland. Most of her girlhood days were spent near the sea coast. Married in May, 1846, she sailed with her husband to Canada to start pioneer life on the farm where she continually resided until she was called to her rest on Sept. 11th, 1901. She was nearly 60 years old before she composed her first poem, and while she dearly loved Canada her thoughts often wandered back to Bonnie Scotland, or, My Dear Auld Hame, as she often called it, and to where she never returned..."
