The introduction states: "This selection of poems, prose and plays from local young people is the third publication of the Black Ink Project. It contains, among others, writings about school, carnival, housing, marriage and abortion. The Black Ink Project was set up to give young people the opportunity to write and to have their work published. It is especially interested in writings which express the experiences of young black people, and those which question traditional attitudes to black people and women."
